Meet Clevie: Founder & Owner
AutoStar didn’t start with a business plan: it started with a passion for cars and a determination to do things right. Clevie Simmons founded AutoStar in 1998, beginning with vehicle tinting offered out
of a home garage. What drove him then is the same thing that drives the business today: treating every vehicle with the same care and attention you’d want for your own.
Over 25 years, Clevie has grown AutoStar from a one-person tinting operation into a full-service auto care business with two locations, a team of skilled technicians, and a reputation that speaks for itself
across the island. He has personally overseen the expansion into paint protection, detailing, rust proofing, and accessories: always doing the homework before bringing a new service to his customers.

Where It All Began
In 1998, AutoStar opened its doors, or rather, its garage, with a simple offering: professional vehicle window tinting. From the start, an early partnership with one of Bermuda's local car distributors meant AutoStar was preparing new vehicles before they ever reached a customer's hands. That relationship set the standard: precision work, clean results, and a level of trust that had to be earned with every car.
Growing the Craft
Year by year, the services grew. Paint protection, paint correction, full interior steam cleaning: each addition came from listening to what Bermuda's drivers actually needed. AutoStar became TIA-certified in tire services and 3M-certified in window film application, leading a small team of approved installers for one of the world's most recognized automotive film brands. In 2003, AutoStar moved to its present location on St. John's Road, Pembroke, a home that has served thousands of vehicles since.
Expanding the Vision
The opening of the Union Street location marks a new chapter, and a deliberate one. Clevie identified a gap in the Bermuda market: drivers who take pride in their vehicles deserve a proper destination for accessories and car care products, not just a service bay. Union Street's renovation was designed to fill that gap.
The new location will house AutoStar's detailing and rust proofing services, alongside a fully stocked Auto Supermarket offering wheels, tires, custom and universal floor mats, dash mats, and a curated range of car care accessories. For the serious DIY enthusiast, there will be a dedicated Detailing Professional Corner, stocked with professional-grade buffers, buffing pads, compounds, waxes, and high-end microfibre cloths that are hard to find anywhere else on the island.
And for customers waiting on their vehicle, because a proper detail takes time, AutoStar will provide a comfortable customer lounge with complimentary coffee, tea, and water. Because the experience matters as much as the result.
Partnering with the Best: Because Bermuda Demands It
Rust proofing is a new addition to the AutoStar service menu, but nothing about the approach is rushed. Bermuda’s coastal salt air is one of the most corrosive environments a vehicle can face, more aggressive, in many ways, than the road salt that Canadian winters throw at cars. That made it essential to find a partner with proven expertise.
AutoStar has partnered with Superior Rust Proofing out of Toronto, Canada, a company that has been in the auto protection business for over 30 years and processes more vehicles than any other rust proofing operation in the Greater Toronto Area. Their treatments are engineered to resist salt, moisture, and oxygen at a level that standard undercoating simply cannot match, using Canadian-made, environmentally friendly formulas that penetrate into seams and joints where rust begins.
If their product can hold up to a Canadian winter, it can hold up to Bermuda. That’s the standard we’re bringing to the island.
